The #1100 Black Francie (1st issue) (1967-1968)
In 1967 the very rare #1100 Black Francie was introduced. She had brown eyes and black hair that oxidized to a reddish color hair over time. The 2nd issue of this doll came with darker brown hair that did not oxidized over time. These dolls were not popular because of their facial features were the same as the White Francie. Both the Black and White dolls used the same head mold. Both versions of Black Francie who was originally called "Colored Francie" came dressed in a two piece swimsuit with built in netting (came in two colors). Because of poor sales, she was discontinued in 1968. Along with the doll came her swimsuit, shoes, clear X stand, booklet, and eyelash brush. She is marked: ©1966/Mattel, Inc./U.S. Patented/ U.S. Pat. Pend./Made in/Japan.
